Vermetseld

A heavy signet ring in sterling silver 925, cast from a print of a mortar joint in the facade of the Izao shop in Rotterdam. The rough brick and mortar texture wraps around the top of the ring, and small silver drops run along the band.

The ring was made for Stadsparels (City Pearls), a series in which Nastasia went looking for unseen jewels in the city and turned fragments of Rotterdam into something you can wear. The contrast between the dark, grainy surface and the polished silver gives it a raw, architectural feel. It is a solid, one of a kind piece that works on its own and suits any hand.
